Short Term

Short Term Goals
  • Expansion of the “Revolving Fund” for financial assistance to patients with potentially curable cancers for the purchase of anti-cancer drugs. Our target will be more than Rs one crore per annum.
  • Expansion of “FREE ONCOLOGY-MULTI-SPECIALITY CLINIC”
    1. Clinic will run at least twice a week.
    2. Involvement of other Specialties required for management of cancer patients.
    3. a.Arranging free surgical treatment of cancer patients in private hospitals.
  • Expansion of Diagnostic facilities and Provision for Day Care Unit for patients to facilitate the diagnosis of cancers and for monitoring the progress of patients. These are reflected in the table.

Medium Term

Medium Term Goals
  1. “DIAGNOSTIC-PALLIATIVE CANCER CARE CENTRE”.
    The CSK enviThe CSK envisages to complete the construction of this centre in next 3 to 5 years. This centre will be constructed with following objectives.
       
    1. To provide all possible facilities for the diagnosis of cancer and monitoring the successes of treatment. These facilities will include: -
      • Diagnostic Laboratory having facilities for Hematologic, Bio-Chemical, Tumorr markers etc.
      • Radiology
      • Digital X-Rays for plain and contrast studies
      • CT Scanner
      • Endoscopy Laboratory


  2. PALLATIVE CARE OF CANCER PATIENTS Palliative Care for terminally ill cancer patients in terms of nursing and treatment of other health related diseases. It will involve employment of nurses, councilors and doctors.


  3. EXPANSION OF DIAGNOSTIC FACILITIES .
    Expansion of Diagnostic facilities to facilitate the diagnosis of cancers and for monitoring the progress of patients. These are reflected in the table.

Long Term

Long Term Goals

In its long term prospective planning, Society plans to establish 100 bedded CANCER HOSPITAL having facilities for the State of the art treatment approximately over 40-50 Kanals of the land. The proposed hospital would have 05 clinical and 03 non-clinical disciplines.

CLINICAL DISCIPLINES

  1. Surgical Oncology Department.
    This Department would have 25 to 30 beds with facilities for surgical expertise in breast, lung, GIT, prostrate, pediatric and solid tumors. It would emphasis for research for cost effective/cost beneficial treatment for the local common tumors and establish need-based protocols.
  2. Medical Oncology Department This department would have 40 beds. The primary aim of this discipline would be an apt sterile area where barrier nursing, limner airflow and HEPA filters would be used as pre requisite for a BEMT including high dose chemotherapy. There is a dire need for use of infusion pumps for continuous chemotherapy. This department will have facilities for setting population based registry.
  3. Radiation Oncology Department. This Department would have 25 beds. This department would be equipped with linear accelerator Branch therapy units “Cobalt Unit” besides computerized treatment planning system. This department will collaborate with surgical oncology in the management of malignancies.
  4. Gynecologic Oncology Department This department would have 05 beds and would concentrate mainly on ovarian cancer and other Gynecological cases in the State. It would also work in harmony with other disciplines in the hospitals to evolve optimal protocols in the malignancy management.
  5. Pediatric Oncology Department. This department would have 20 beds covering mainly haematological and pediatric solid tumors.
